Overview

Welcome! This wiki is a fan-run resource for Space Station 14. We are hosted and managed by Cybersun.space, meaning we are a community project and are not officially affiliated with or operated by the Space Wizards Federation.

Because we are a volunteer team and not a corporation, we wrote this policy in good faith to be clear, honest, and easy to read. It explains exactly what happens with your data on this site. Please note that this policy only applies to this wiki. It does not cover the main Space Station 14 game, its Discord, or account.spacestation14.com, which all have their own separate privacy practices.

Account & login

To keep things secure and simple, you cannot create a local password on this wiki. The only way to get an account here is to log in using your existing Space Station 14 account via their official sign-in system.

Here is what happens when you log in:

  • We receive your SS14 username, a numeric account ID, and the email address attached to your SS14 account. We use these to create or match up your wiki account.
  • We never see or store your SS14 password. The actual login process happens entirely on SS14's end. We just get a secure message confirming it's really you, along with your basic profile details.
  • Whatever data SS14 shares with us during that login process is subject to their own privacy policy.

What we collect

Edits and contributions. Just like Wikipedia, everything you post here: page edits, uploaded files, edit summaries, and the time you posted them, is public and kept permanently in the page history. Please do not post anything you aren't comfortable leaving public.

IP addresses and technical logs. Like almost every website on the internet, our servers log standard connection details (like your IP address, browser type, and the time you visited) to keep the site secure and prevent abuse. If you are logged in, your IP address is hidden from the public. It is only retained internally and can only be seen by administrators with special "CheckUser" access (see below) to stop trolls, spam, or vandalism.

Cookies. We use standard cookies to keep you logged in and to remember your preferences (like your preferred site theme or editor settings). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don't run any third-party analytics.

Email. If you turn on email features for your account, we will only use your email address to send you the wiki-related notifications you specifically asked for. We will never sell, share, or use your email for marketing.

How we handle abuse (CheckUser)

A small group of trusted administrators have "CheckUser" rights, which allows them to look up the IP addresses and browser details behind specific edits or accounts. We only use this tool to investigate bad-faith behavior like vandalism, spam, harassment, or people using multiple accounts to cheat the system. We log every time this tool is used, and it is strictly for security, never for general surveillance of our contributors.

Where your data is stored

The wiki runs on a server we manage ourselves, located in the Netherlands. We work hard to secure it to the best of our ability, but because we are a self-hosted fan project, we cannot offer the same formal, legal data guarantees that a massive tech corporation might.

Who else sees your data

We do not sell your data to anyone, and we only share it with the services strictly necessary to keep the wiki running:

  • account.spacestation14.com handles your login and shares your basic profile info with us so you can edit.
  • Cloudflare protects our site and routes traffic to our server. Because of how this works, Cloudflare processes connection metadata (like your IP address and request details) to safely deliver the website to your screen. You can read more in Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Data retention

Public contributions (like your edits and uploads) are kept indefinitely as part of the wiki's permanent history. Private technical data, like IP logs, are kept only as long as we reasonably need them for security and abuse prevention, after which they are automatically deleted.

Your choices and rights

  • Hide your IP: If you make edits while logged into an account, your public username is attached to the edit instead of your IP address.
  • Hide sensitive mistakes: If you accidentally post personal information, you can ask an administrator to "revision-delete" or oversight that specific edit to hide it from the public.
  • Delete your data: Because your wiki account is tied directly to your main SS14 account, questions about full account deletion can be tricky. Reach out to us at the contact email below, we will delete or anonymize whatever is within our control on the wiki side, and point you to the Space Wizards Federation for anything on their end.

Children's privacy

This wiki is not meant for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under that age.

Changes to this policy

If we add new features to the wiki, we might need to update this policy. We will note any significant changes in this page's edit history, so feel free to check back periodically.
