Added heading, expanded combat section as well as a lot of stubby entries / entries that were missing outright. Moved TODO comments to be actual edit comments. Made disclaimer into fmnote template. Changed default sort of weapons to ease of access as it is already sortable by alphabet, added comment to signify it as such

Template:FmboxWhether you need to defend yourself from traitors, remove intruders from the bridge, or murder the clown, you have a lot to too choose from for the job - weapons in Space Station 14 are numerous and varied. They are primarily divided between ranged and melee weapons. The latter of the two includes your own fists, which are hard to lose. If you, however, want to find weapons better than those, but are struggling to find dedicated ones, makeshift weapons are nearly always available - although they are usually less reliable, and inconvenient in their own ways.

For the purposes of this page, less obvious things to count as weapons, such as banana peels, flashbangs, or space lube, are listed as well, as they all play an important part in the game's combat.

Combat

Template:Main To enter Combat mode, find the relevant icon in your actions menu or list. Remember that you can wield some weapons in both hands by using them in hand, this includes large melee weapons, but also large firearms like shotguns or sniper rifles.

It's also good to internalize that advantages provided by better weapons often stifle when faced with the chaotic nature of space station's rounds. Someone with a glass shard, or even just fists, can very reasonably take out an antagonist, or member of command armed to the teeth, if the situation on board the station has suitably deteriorated. The environment often plays a large role in how fight's play out. It should be deeply considered before, and when in, a fight. It will matter just as much for a passenger, who's trying to steal a stun baton, as for a team of nuclear operatives, who are trying to wipe out a department. Space lube, fauna, fire, radiation, and other hazards, don't effect everyone equally.

Melee Weapons

Dedicated Melee Weapons

Icon Item Damage How to acquire Notes
Spear Dependent on many variables like wielding and type (see notes) Construction; all spears, with the exception of the bone spear, can be crafted using 2 rods, 3 lv cables and a tip which determines it's type (see notes). An expanded, though not full, list of damage values is as follows - with the first value being when wielded and second when thrown:
  • (Glass shard) spear - 16 pierce / 15 pierce
  • Reinforced (glass shard) spear - 19 pierce / 18 pierce

Energy Weapons

Laser Cannon Energy 10 Lasers 28 Heat Research A heavy duty, high powered laser weapon.

Antique Laser Pistol Energy 10 Lasers 17 Heat Captain's locker. Craftsmanship of the highest quality - this weapon auto recharges over time. There is only one per station, typically entrusted to the captain.

Pulse based

Icon Item Ammo Capacity Damage & Effects How to Acquire Notes
Pulse Carbine Energy 25 Pulse 35 Heat ERT A high tech energy carbine favoured by the NT-ERT operatives.
Pulse Pistol Energy 10 Pulse 35 Heat ERT A state of the art energy pistol favoured as a sidearm by the NT-ERT operatives.
Pulse Rifle Energy 400 Pulse 35 Heat Death Squad A weapon that is almost as infamous as its users.

Other

Icon Item Ammo Capacity Damage & Effects How to Acquire Notes
CHIMP Handcannon Anomaly particle cartridges 10 cartridges
  • Delta, Zeta, Epsilon - 5 Burn
  • Omega - 20 Burn
Anomalous technology research Predominantly a tool used to contain anomalies, but still packs a decent punch with the right ammunition. Uses anomaly particle cartridges as ammo.

Omega can be aquired after upgrading a chimp handcannon with a "upgrade chip" from the syndicate uplink.

Explosives

Icon Item How to acquire Notes
Rigged powercell See notes Inject liquid plasma into a battery with a syringe to rig it. Once the cell is plugged into a device it will it will explode upon the device changing power states (ie. flashlight being turned on/off) - explosion size and damage depends on size of powercell.
Modular Grenade Construction To construct one, one needs a payload, a grenade casing, and a trigger. The payload can be chemical - loaded with 2 containers which will mix on tripping of the trigger. There are currently three types of trigger: voice, signal and timer. All, but voice have a preset countdown before detonation.

A crowbar can be used on the used grenade to extract the payload and reuse it.

Composition C4 Traitor Uplink Used to put holes in specific areas without too much extra hole. Can be installed on a structure to destroy it.
Explosive Grenade Traitor Uplink Grenade that creates a small but devastating explosion. Has a ~4 tiles radius.
Syndicate Minibomb Traitor Uplink A precision sabotage explosive for quickly destroying a machine, dead body, or whatever else needs to go. This grenade explosion will reliably destroy the tile under it, resulting in spacing the area.
The Nuclear Option Admeme Actual pocket nuclear bomb, with matching damage and radius. Please don't throw it, think of the children.

Non-lethal Weapons

Combat tracks "stamina damage", which if allowed to fully exhaust will cause a lengthy stun affliction, which knocks down and disables a player's ability to do anything for a set duration. During the stun, the player is unable to move or act in any way that isn't speaking.

The above is a "true" stun, unlike, in comparison, for example the taser, which only knocks an opponent down, but will not prevent them from further actions - meaning they can immediately get off the ground and pick up their weapons to attack.

This isn't a complete list, you can help by expanding it.

Icon Item True stun? How to acquire Notes
Banana Peel Knockdown Eating a banana / maintenance / clown equipment Stepping on a banana peel while running, without no-slip shoes or an active magboots effect, will immediately knock down and deal about 25% stamina damage. The primary counter to almost any legged threat.
Soap Knockdown Janitor / maintenance closets / traitor uplink Works the same as banana peels. The omega soap variation does more stamina damage and downs for about 5 seconds instead of 1. The syndicate "slipocalypse clustersoap" variation available from the traitor uplink for 1 tc splits into miniature soap fragments upon being thrown, which are supposed to disappear after 60 seconds (currently bugged).

Janitor's favorite.

Space lube/Lube bomb Knockdown Chemistry / clown equipment Might be hard to get outside of chemistry/clownery, but can block off whole departments if made into a reagent foam bomb.
Bola Stun Security / Construction When thrown ensnares any target along it's trajectory, making them lose about half their movement speed. Takes a couple seconds to remove.

6 are always available in any sec-tech vending machine. They can also be crafted with cuffs and 6 sheets of metal.

Disabler Stun Security Ranged weapon available to all of security. Shoots projectile laser shots, which drain stamina. The stamina knockdown leaves enough time to cuff and apprehend. Can be quick equipped from belt.
Stun Baton Stun Security Same as the disabler, but melee. Has to be activated to stun. Runs off a power cell, needs to be periodically recharged - uniquely the power cell drains per hit used while on, and not in relation to how long it's actively on, unlike other powered devices.

Miscellaneous

Weapons - if they can be called that - listed here do no damage or major direct crowd control on their own, and require some creativity for effective usage.

Icon Item Extra effects How to acquire Notes
Improvised pneumatic cannon Varies Crafting Allows you to launch any 4x4, or smaller item. This can be anything from live mice and station pets to throwing knives, grenades and reagent filled beakers.

Relatively accessible, requiring a pair of makeshift cuffs, 6 steel, a pipe and a pressurized tank.

Flash Flash and Slow Security/Command An ultrabright flashbulb with a trigger, which causes the victim to be dazed and lose their eyesight for a moment. Can be used in hand for brief AOE blindness or Useless when burnt out. Sunglasses or welding mask offer 100% protection from the flash effect.
Flashbang Flash Security A flashbang grenade which detonate after a 3.5 sec delay. The flash duration should leave enough time to cuff someone. Sunglasses or welding mask offer 100% protection from the flash effect.
